Why Do People Eat at Edinbane Inn?

Because they’ve been tipped off. By a B&B host, a passing hiker, someone at a petrol station who said, “Oh, you’ve got to try the…” Because Portree’s packed, but this place feels like a discovery. Because our food fills you up. Because our guests want food with some island soul. It’s not fancy. It’s well-cooked food you’ll want again.

What You'll Find

Big portions, full plates, and Scottish classics that don’t disappoint. We serve all day throughout summer—from lunch through to dinner—making us a rare find on Skye. Black pudding fritters in Guinness batter, scallops seared to order, and whisky infused sticky toffee pudding. Service is steady, not hurried. Plates that fill you up but make you think twice about skipping dessert.

Walk-ins: walk-ins are welcome but sadly not guaranteed. We don’t reserve table for walk-in.

Food on Skye That’s Worth a Wee Drive

Where to Eat on Skye All Day

Edinbane Inn is one of the only restaurants on the Isle of Skye serving food all day in summer. No awkward gaps. No 3pm kitchen closures. Whether you’re out early or of the hills at 4, we’re ready to feed you. In winter we serve dinner every evening and lunch at weekends, then close from 4 January to 28 February.

Restaurant Near Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point & Portree

A Skye pub doing what pubs do best—feeding people properly. Not fine dining. Not fast food. A kitchen that’s open when you’re hungry, food that makes sense after a long day exploring the island, on the hills or in the rain.

15 mins from Portree. 10 from Dunvegan. Just off the A850. Heading out west? We’re right on your way. That makes us ideal for:

  • A late lunch after Dunvegan Castle

  • A warm-up before or after Neist Point

  • Skipping the queues in Portree

Edinbane Inn Restaurant FAQ

Yes—and not just the afterthought kind. You’ll find dishes like pan seared gnocchi, and beetroot risotto. Vegan desserts too. One guest called it “the best vegetarian burger ever.”

Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the Bar dining area, but not in the main Restaurant. No large dog groups, just space-wise. And yes, we’ll probably end up fussing over them more than you.

Absolutely. Especially in season. Locals book ahead and rooms are full most nights, so the tables go fast. Some guests have squeezed in last minute—but don’t count on it. Reserve early. You’ll thank us when the mussels arrive.

Close enough for convenience, far enough from the bustle. We’re 20 minutes from Portree, 15 from Dunvegan, and surrounded by quietness. Guests mention it’s the perfect base for exploring Skye.

We use local and Scottish suppliers wherever we can. Seafood’s from Scottish waters, and you’ll taste the difference.

We comply with the legal requirement to identify the 14 main allergens across our menu.
